We saw the opportunity to invest in this 3-acre derelict site to the east of Birmingham City Centre and unlock a new gateway into Digbeth.

Sama’s proposed scheme, submitted to the local authority in June 2023, includes a landmark 37-storey tower, on the corner of Great Barr Street and Watery Lane Middleway, that will provide a focal point for the area.

The mixed use site will deliver much needed new homes, as well as accommodation for students at Birmingham’s two major universities, Aston and Birmingham City, both of which are only a short walk away.

Garrison Circus is a 20-minute walk to the city centre and the site is also ideal for commuters, being close to the new HS2 train link being built on Curzon Street.

Sama’s proposal includes new outdoor courtyards and public open spaces, which will add to the transformation of the space. This along with the local listed ‘Myona’ building, with its historic connection to Jacobs Biscuits, is being retained and restored. The plans also include a cultural space to support the local arts industry.
