As an ethical, Sharia-compliant business, we strongly believe in giving back to the community and to helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

For many years, Sama’s annual philanthropic support has included helping vulnerable people in Bangladesh, from where Sama co-founder Bilal Ahmed descends. We have donated to charities and non-profit organisations bringing education and clean water to remote villages and delivering food and clothes to those in need, particularly in the flooding-prone city of Sylhet.

In order to build on this work, in 2020 Sama’s directors and staff helped form HB Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping less fortunate people in Bangladesh. The organisation’s motto is: “A simple act of kindness can change a life forever”.

One of the primary areas of work for HB Foundation is in education via the ‘Educate and Empower Me’ project. The organisation has already established two schools, one in the remote village of Raiya Pur and another in Sylhet, with plans to build many more, helping less privileged children to pursue their dreams.

HB Foundation also supports Special Needs schools in Bangladesh, enabling children with learning difficulties and disabilities to be properly diagnosed and to receive an education that reflects their special needs.

In addition, HB Foundation is helping to build wells, so people in remote villages have access to safe and clean water supplies, and to provide medical aid to low-waged Bangladeshis, so they have access to healthcare professionals, medicine and other medical treatments.
